Find a scam before it finds you
This Cyber Smart Week (5-11 October), we’re challenging New Zealanders to look closer, question what they see and get better at spotting when something isn’t right.
Cyber threats are changing. AI is making scams faster to create, easier to scale and more convincing than ever.
So this year, we’re challenging New Zealanders to find a scam before it finds you, looking closer, questioning what they see and getting better at spotting when something isn’t right.
Because the better we get at recognising cyber risks, and knowing what to do when we find them, the harder we make it for cyber criminals to succeed.
Could you spot the scam?
Scams don’t always look like scams anymore.
AI can help cyber criminals create convincing messages, impersonate people and personalise scams using information they find online. A scam could look, sound or even appear to come from someone you know.
So take a closer look. Be suspicious of unexpected requests. And if something doesn’t feel right, think before you click.
