Own Your Online advice now available in more accessible formats

Everyone deserves access to practical advice that helps them stay secure online. We’ve launched accessible versions of two of our most popular guides, making it easier for more New Zealanders to access trusted online safety information.

Our mission is to empower all New Zealanders with the knowledge they need to protect themselves online. 

That’s why, with support from the Ministry of Disabled People – Whaikaha, we’ve created alternate formats of two of our most popular online safety guides. 

These resources are designed to make our advice more accessible for people who are blind or have low vision, are Deaf or hard of hearing, have learning disabilities, or simply prefer to access information in different ways. 

Everyone should be able to find practical, easy-to-understand guidance to help them stay safe online.

Five quick steps to online security 

A simple guide covering five practical things you can do to better protect yourself online, including creating strong passwords, turning on two-factor authentication, keeping your devices up to date and recognising scams. 

Keeping safe after a data breach 

If one of your accounts or personal information has been exposed in a data breach, this guide explains the steps you can take to reduce the impact and secure your information. It covers how to confirm what information has been affected, change compromised passwords, monitor your accounts and stay alert for scams.
